CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – Crisp autumn air, wafts of kettle corn and the chimes of a blacksmith fill the air as you enter Sinkland Farms. This weekend marks the second-to-last of their famous Pumpkin Festival, which runs from September 25th to November 2nd and continues to draw families, students, and tourists from across the greater Southwest Virginia area.

The award-winning festival is in its 34th year and has become a fall staple for many in the area. Visitors come for the rows of pumpkins, tens of vendors, winding corn rows, and exciting live demonstrations that capture the charm of the region.

A $20 admission will get you access to nearly everything the festival has to offer. From open to close, children line up to take pony rides, visit farm animals, and ride down the giant tube slides. Parents and college students sample food and crafts from local vendors while sipping on fresh apple cider.

The festival is an important platform for local vendors to showcase their wares and promote their business. Vendors range from handcrafted jewelry and crafts to animal rugs and 3D printed toys.

Live music is a festival staple, with performances many days from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m in varying locations around the farm in genres ranging from bluegrass and country to acapella. During the run of the festival, over two dozen artists will perform, showcasing regional talent and local favorites.

Beyond the attractions, Sinkland Farms offers a genuine farm experience that highlights the region’s agricultural roots during field trips. Students can see tractors in motion and partake in experiential learning. The site also hosts private events, weddings and several other seasonal festivals, all with the backdrop of the blue ridge mountains.
